Useful Information

Flights can be taken to Sofia, Bulgaria or Bucharest, Rumania. Both are about a two and a half hour drive away from our center.

Bucharest in Rumania can be used as an alternative airport to Sofia, the distance is the same. However, transfer through Romania to Bulgaria is a little more problematic and car rental has additional insurance costs as you cross borders.

Car Rental

There are several car hire companies available at the Sofia Airport. Due to the poor road conditions we strongly advise you take out the full extra cover at around €8 per/day.

Airport transfer by car

Airport transfer can be arranged directly to place of accommodation. The cost is about 150 Lv

Bus

The coach service is effective and comfortable and busses to Varna via Veliko Tarnovo run hourly. We recommend a taxi to the bus station from the airport for about 10 Euros. The bus will be about 22Lev.

For most people a Schengen visa is available on arrival at the airport. If you are not eligible for this visa please contact us and we can provide the necessary paper work to help facilitate a visa.

Any deposit paid will be fully refundable if Covid 19 restrictions causes a change in plans.

Please see this website for vacination recommendations when visiting Bulgaria – https://www.passporthealthusa.com/destination-advice/bulgaria/

Cash in the form of Bulgarian Lev is the most convenient form of currency in Bulgaria.

ATMs are easily accessible in most areas, and allow you to withdraw money with a Visa enabled debit or credit card.

Bulgaria is a phenomenally beautiful country rich in history and historical sites, beautiful countryside, and amazing food. We recommend the following.

Stay a night in Sofia on the way to the retreat and go on the free walking tour to visit Thracian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Communist history all in one place.

Make the most of Veliko Tarnovo. Our center is just outside of this historic 13 century capital which is filled with historic sights, summer music festivals and amazing restaurants.

Around our village there are many sights and natural attractions including:

Kapinova monstry and waterfall: Features an 11th century monastery, a beautiful waterfall for swimming and sunning in your time off and great resturants. 20 mins by car from our center.

Paragliding: Let us put you in touch with our trusted paragliding instructors and go for a tandam ride on your day off. A very affordable place to try this.

Walking: Anywhere and everywhere. Around the village for a taste of rustic village life or through fields and fields of sunflowers.

Camping in Veliko Tarnovo: You can camp here or just enjoy their swimming pool and lovely restaurant with its breath taking views.
